Africa Inland Church
Our Story
What began as a small prayer movement has grown into a vibrant community of faith. The story of AIC Machani is a testimony of prayer, unity, and unwavering trust in God.
The Great Commission
Responding to Matthew 28:19–20 "Go ye." We are zealous to reach those around us and beyond.
Edifying Saints
Preparing God’s people for service and presenting everyone perfect in Christ (Eph 4:12–13, Col 1:28–29).
Defending Faith
Delivering people from deceiving cults and ungodly traditions that lead people away from God.
The Beginning
Over 40 years ago, Machani was a very different place. There were no proper roads, no tapped water, and no local church. Residents walked long distances to Kijabe Mission to attend Sunday services.
The Visionary Elders
Zakayo Kahunya, D. Kahoro, Stanley Ngugi, and D. Thwairi.
As they prayed for a church building, God placed a deeper vision on their hearts—to begin a Sunday School for children while also creating a space that would serve the elderly in the community.
Growth and Expansion
In response to a growing congregation, the Kijabe Local Church Council (LCC) approved plans for a larger sanctuary. In October 1997, our first fundraising initiative raised KSh 558,629—a pivotal milestone for our community.
Laying the Foundation
On June 6, 1999, the church land was officially dedicated to the Lord by Rev. Julius Mwangi, Pastor Wilfred Githoungo, and Pr. Isaac Wanyumu. Under the supervision of Mr. A. Z. Kago, construction began that same year, completing Phase I of the project we call home today.
A Legacy of Faith
From Friday Bible studies in village homes to the "Church on the Hill," our journey remains rooted in the same mission: to be a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.
